Attention Photographers

EVENING SHOOTS IN VICTORIA, VANCOUVER & OTTAWA

Interested in practicing more of your night-time photography skills?

Let's head out to practice shooting with evening ambient light. We'll try *not* using flash if we can get away with it. The FunkyTown shoots are always a ton of fun and you'll have an opportunity to create dramatic images in low light. We'll photograph a model(s) dressed in wedding attire and you can use the images in your portfolio. This is a shoot-only session (no class instruction).

VANCOUVER
September 11 from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
(right after the one-day workshop in Vancouver see http://www.funkytownphotography.com/weddingphotographyworkshop/)

VICTORIA
September 20 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

OTTAWA
October 2 from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
(right after the one-day workshop in Ottawa http://www.funkytownphotography.com/weddingphotographyworkshop/)

What skills/equipment do you need?

You'll need a DSLR camera with at least a medium-range zoom lens (ie a 24-70mm) and you should know how to control your camera in manual mode. To get the most out of the shoot, I recommend having a camera that can handle shooting at ISO 1000 without causing too much grain/noise (the best cameras are the Canon 5D or above, or the Nikon D700 or above).

Cost: $250 - Save $50 if you've already attended (or have signed up to attend) a FunkyTown workshop. You'll also receive a one-month free subscription to the new FunkyTown Photography online workshop series for participating. Visit http://www.funkytownphotography.com/learn-wedding-photography/ for more information about the online workshop.

A contest? How can I win a spot in the workshop?

That's right! 1. Either
a) Create one blog post with a picture you have taken (the photo should be either watermarked or contain copyright information). The photo can be of any subject. It could be of your child, dog, a flower, a humming bird -- the sky's the limit... the most important thing is that the photo should be creative and should represent the kind of photographer you are. The blog post should have the following information:

4. On June 1, 2011 at 11pm PST the person with the most votes (on the FunkyTown Facebook Fan Page) wins the destination wedding photography workshop!

5. I'll announce the winner on my blog and on my Facebook fan page with a link back to your website. :) I'll also post the blog links in my comment section for this blog post as entries come in.

(Photographers who attend the workshop will be expected to know how to control their cameras in manual mode).

WORKSHOP NEWS - VICTORIA 3-DAY WORKSHOP MARCH 4-6, 2011

I'm excited to share photos from workshop I hosted last weekend (March 4-6, 2011) at the Executive House in Victoria. We had a high caliber group of photographers visiting from Ontario, Mississippi, and Washington State, not to mention some awesome talent from Vancouver Island. I'm still waiting for permission from a couple of people before posting their photos but I'm expecting to share more soon. Also, in the next few weeks I'll also make a promotional video thanks to footage taken by my good friends Jenna & Tristan (visit http://www.jennaandtristan.com to see their amazing work). A very special thank you to the following photographers who helped with the workshop Ashley Gulevich, Kelsey Goodwin, Georgie Wilson, Jenna & Tristan Shouldice and to the following amazing models (most were supplied by the fabulous Barbara Coultish Agency in Victoria): Jesse & Kevin, Andrea & Ben, Dana, Svea, Grace, Ashley, Alexis and Michelle. I'd also love to share Jesse Holland's blog post from the weekend. She is a talented wedding photographer here in Victoria who agreed to pose with her husband. They gorgeous models. Western Academy of Photography Wedding Shoot

I'm currently teaching a wedding photography course at my alma mater, the Western Academy of Photography. WAP offers a one-year full-time diploma program that provides students with a foundation in all genres of photography. Every year we host an all-day shoot where students have a chance to photograph models (courtesy of the Coultish Agency) dressed in wedding attire. It's usually outdoors but we've been having unseasonably cold and rainy weather here so I was grateful that we were able to get into the fabulous Inn at Laurel Point and St. Ann's academy. Ryan MacDonald, an extremely talented photographer (who also graduated in my year) helped out and gave the students awesome posing and lighting ideas. Here are a few photos from the day.

Just wanted to send out a double thank you to Ryan, the models (John, Sky, Chantel, Charlene, Stephanie & Rachel), plus the Laurel Point and St. Ann's Academy for all of your help with the shoot.

Camosun College Portrait & Wedding Photography Class

Some fun photos from the workshop shoot with the Camosun College photography class. Molly - the best model in the whole world - braved a chilly morning looking absolutely stunning. If you're ever in need of a professional model, contact the Coultish Agency in Victoria and ask for Molly - she is awesome!!

Wedding Photography Workshop

Eunice & Christina taught a portrait & wedding photography course at Camosun College this fall. As part of the course, we had a really fun workshop with our good friend Sarah modeling as a bride. We're also including a couple of our favorite pictures taken by the class. Thanks Sarah for being such a great sport - and thank you to all the students who braved the cold weather to come out and participate. If you're interested in taking a course, Eunice is teaching again at Camosun this winter. Check out the Camosun schedule to sign up.
