Antigua, Guatemala is a place that can only be described as magical. As a UNESCO heritage site, it remains almost exactly as it originally looked when it was Spain's capital of Central America in the 1500-1700s. Victoria & Eric fell in love with this amazing city while visiting from New York and knew it would make a perfect backdrop for their destination wedding. They treated their 100 guests to an extraordinary celebration that included thousands of red roses and candles (2,000 during the ceremony alone). I can't speak highly enough of Gladys and her fabulous team at Saguzo Eventos (if you're getting married in Guatemala you HAVE to use the Saguzo team to coordinate your wedding!). Victoria & Eric were incredibly nice and so easy to work with. This wedding was one of my highlights of the year!

Maria & Stephen's Wedding in Antigua, Guatemala - Part 3

Christina writes: Maria & Stephen's wedding in Antigua, Guatemala was too amazing for words so I'm going to let the photos mostly speak for themselves. This will be a three-parter, since the festivities were almost a week long and the scenery was unreal! Antigua was once the capital of all of Central America and dates back to 1543. The city remains like a living museum with buildings appearing almost exactly as they did close to 500 years ago. We took Maria around town for bridal portraits, including the Convent Las Capuchinas, the Santa Cruz Cathedral, the famous town square, plus portraits at the Santo Domingo Monestary and Hotel where Maria & Stephen were married. Maria's family is from Guatemala, but this cosmopolitan girl grew up in New Orleans and New York, where she met the handsome Stephen (whose family is from Connecticut). Almost 150 people flew in for the festivities to join Maria's family, building the guest list to almost 400 people.

Maria & Stephen's Wedding in Antigua, Guatemala - Part 2

Maria & Stephen's reception was also held at the Santo Domingo Monestary, which is now a resort and banquet hall. With a 400-person guest list, confetti & bubble blowing machines, a tequilla bandit (seen above), a 21-piece band playing salsa, big band and disco, and festivities until 4:30 a.m. I felt like I was on a movie set!

Maria & Stephen's Wedding in Antigua, Guatemala - Part 1

Maria & Stephen's wedding ceremony was held at the most stunning cathedral I've ever seen. The Santo Domingo monestary traces its history back to traced back to 1538 when the Dominicans arrived in Guatemala. The 350+ audience was entertained by a symphony orchestra and the cathedral and ruins were lit by over 2,000 candles!
