Traci & Skip are a couple who are completely in step with each other. You can tell by the way Skip looks at Traci that he absolutely adores her and vice versa. Their wedding was outdoors, under a tent, at Saxe Point Park and they were surrounded by friends and family bursting with pride. It was unfortunately fairly windy and cold (it was probably 15 degrees but felt closer to five) so took shelter at the Delta Ocean Point for pictures and we were able to use the large three-storey window in their lobby as a backdrop. Skip is an engineer with the navy and they had their party at the Naval Base's Ward Room in Esquimalt, which has the absolute best views of the Olympic Peninusla. There were plenty of revelers and we had so much fun on the dance floor with everyone. Eunice Montenegro, who used to co-own FunkyTown Photography before she moved to the east coast, teamed up with me for this wedding. I was excited to partner with one of my favorite photogrpahers and best friends. Skip & Traci, congratulations! You were both stunning and we loved working with you!

WHAT'S FOR DINNER?

While menus haven't always been a staple on table tops at weddings, more and more couples are choosing to give their guests a "heads up" on what they'll be eating for dinner. The fun thing about menus is that not only do they serve a purpose, they can also be used to add colour/design to your table if you create them to match your wedding colours and theme.

STONEFIELDS OPEN HOUSE

Back in March 2010 Viva posted about STONEFIELDS Heritage Farm, a fabulous new country venue getting ready to open its doors and host your next corporate retreat, special event, private party, community function, and of course Viva's favourite - your wedding.

A few short months later, with several events/weddings under their belt, STONEFIELDS is now hosting an open house for all brides & grooms-to-be, event vendors, and anyone who may be searching for that perfect rustic venue to hold their next celebration.

Julie & Jay's Wedding at the Chateau Cartier in Gatineau, Quebec

Julie & Jay are surrounded by people who care about them very much and this wedding was all about that love. From the moment you meet them you are disarmed by their friendliness and I think the photos show how much fun they are. Their wedding was set outdoors at the Chateau Cartier in Gatineau, Quebec (right across the river from Ottawa). All of the details were impeccable and exquisitely chosen. For portraits, we found a great spot at the Ottawa River, around the corner from the hotel with fantastic light and lots of wildflowers and trees. I am a complete sucker for tear jerkers and the speeches got me to the point where I was grateful for auto focus because I couldn't see through the view finder for tears. I brought along the talented Robin Gartner as a second photographer and I am so excited to share some of her shots. Julie & Jay, we had such a great time getting to know you both. You are beautiful inside and out -- congratulations!
